I have MS Office 97 SR2 and am using MS Outlook 97 as my default email client. I have noticed recently that if I try to send email which contains a .bmp image in the body of my message, sometimes the recipient will not receive the image. .Is this problem caused by my email settings or is this a problem with the recipient's email client or perhaps the recipient's ISP server? So many people are pathologically afraid to open email that has attachments, I prefer to include images within the body of the email messsage, instead of using attachments. I also use .bmp screen shots of error messages, etc. when sending messages to tech support for an application I have questions about.

    Hi lgdavis
Welcome to the boards. At a guess, it's probably the way they have their email set up.

Daizy is right. Sent internally to your tech support (for example) keeps the images in the body of the message. However, sending text, images, font formatting, etc... over the internet means all bets are off as to how it can be viewed on the recieving end. Many ISPs/email servers strip any additional formatting out of a message and turn it into plain text. This will cause any inline images to be either made a standard attachment or stripped altogether.

    Thank you for your help.
I am thinking that perhaps the best way to send text and graphics together via email is to create an. html document and send it as an attachment.

You're probably right. There are a number of old timers out there who object to HTML mails and will view only Plain Text messages.

Daizy - Have you applied SP1 yet? If so, open OE and click Tools - Options - Read. Look at the 4th option :)

Has it? Are you sure? Remember, I don't use OE!

Coon age? Never heard of it. Coon hat, yes. Coon age, no. Lost it? Maybe. Lost it enough to wear a (de rigeur in Canada) coon hat? Certainly not!
