how to change ext file for music?

OK I am trying to make ringtones on a site http://www.myxer.com/ pretty neat site... so anyway you can make ringtones from files you have, I need to save a song from an inserted CD. 1st problem is unlike xp, when I open the cd from my computer, it is am i Tunes file UG! I just want an mp3 or mid. most other ringtones from the site a ".mid ". How do I open a CD and save to my desktop as .mid??? Or should I just go to my old XP puter to do this?

You need to "rip" the tracks into another format.

Windows Media Player 11 will rip tracks to .mp3 or .wma files.
