Can't defrag Metadata file

I have been using Raxco Perfect Disk for defrag without any problems for many years. Now after a defrag it says i have 1 file in the Metadata C:\$Secure:$SDS that is fragmented. When i run an offline defrag normally it takes care of any fragmented system files but it didn't defrag C:\$Secure:$SDS . Anyone come across this ? I did a search for C:\$Secure:$SDS but didn't find much...

Something to do with secure communications? Encryption or encoding? Have you installed anything like that?

I did go to that site and like many others when they used PerfectDisk it fixed it for them.

 

Yea i know, its just bothering me that i can't figure out why it won't defrag and what it is..

 

I'm not using any software like that. I can't even find a file called $Secure:$SDS on my hard drive.

 

Ok...I finally was able to fix this problem with a program called ULTIMATEDEFRAG 2008 by DiskTrix. I was able to defrag it within windows

Totally agree with this post.
A few fragments of metadata are nothing to get worry about. Whenever you use windows, there will be fragmentation , and as long as the defragmenter clear up fragmentation before it becomes a problem, it's not ..er a problem.

I too use Diskeeper 2008 Pro, and it's a great defragmenter. I've left it on automatic mode, so it defrags in the background. I never bother checking/micromanaging the defrag process, because DK does it well, and I have better things to do with my time
