    I just installed a new mother board, processor, and memory and the driver on the install disc fails during install. Here is the new parts info;

    Motherboard: Intel DG31PR w/ Intel G31 Express Chipset

    Processor: Intel Pentium Dual-Core E5200 2.50GHz 800FSB 2MB L2 Cache

    Memory: DDR2-800 PC6400 2G/128x8

    The motherboard came with a driver install disc. Every other driver installed OK:eek:.

    The onboard audio subsystem consists of the following:
    • Intel® ICH7
    • Realtek ALC888 audio codec
    • Back panel audio connectors
    • Onboard audio header/connector:
    ⎯ Intel High Definition audio front panel audio header
    ⎯ Onboard S/PDIF connector
    The audio subsystem supports the following features:
    • A signal-to-noise (S/N) ratio of 95 dB
    • Independent multi-streaming 5.1 audio (using the back panel audio connectors)
    and stereo (using the Intel High Definition front panel audio header)

    I've tried the procedure listed on the Intel support site with no luck either.:(

    Might be worth trying to instal in Safe Mode?

    It may be that the sound chip on your mobo has been updated - see if SIW confirms what you posted above.

    Resolved

    i just found the solution on a French forum:eek:, it has worked very well for me;

    - Open Device Manager (Start / Control Panel / System / Hardware)
    - In the "View" tab, select "Devices by Connection "
    - First Disable "Microsoft UAA bus driver for HD audio" and then uninstall "Microsoft UAA bus driver for HD audio "
    - You can now install the drivers normally and without errors.:D
