A friend of mine has machine with Win98 & Outlook Express 5 (sorry, don't know spec of machine), running on a LAN.

He has a problem where whenever he starts OE5 the graphics go all to pot.

It looks like something you'd expect to see while playing a game on a Commadore Vic20 (apparently), there are no defining images on the screen, yet there are plenty of colours, and the mouse pointer turns into a large square block.

The "Block" is still active, and moves in unison with movement of the mouse. and... if the mouse button is clicked the screen flickers with an effect of "interference ".

These are his explanations, I have not seen the machine-it only happens when he starts OE, and he has no solution to overcome, therefore he has to physically stop power the the poota, which is never nice.

    Any ideas?

OK. You did say "suggestions "!

OE apparently does not share its display properties with IE. There are a number of registry changes that need to be made to synchronize those settings.
To avoid time, you may want to simply download XSetup from www.xteq.com and search for the Outlook Express settings. It contains a vb script that will synchronize them for you. If IE displays OK and OE doesn't, maybe that will do it.
