I have an HP Pavillion dv6000. My computer installed windows updates for vista and now my wireless driver has been deleted. My computer uses broadcom wireless, and an update is available to install, however cannot install on a non-existant driver. Help!!!

Hi Alexandra001. Welcome to Windowsbbs! :) Try looking for the driver for your wireless connection on the manufacturers website or look it up on google.com and try installing it. If you can't find it let me know.

I'm not clear what you mean by "an update is available to install, however cannot install on a non-existant driver" but have you tried the usual. Possibly the driver still exists on the harddisk. Through the Device manager try to uninstall the driver, if it does show one is installed, and then reboot and see if the OS can reinstall something workeable. Otherwise try, by the same method, to update the driver by searching in Windows (including sub folders). You might also see, by right clicking the device in the device manager, if there is a rollback option.

    Driver Recovery Disc

Hi alexandra, I currently own a DV 9830 and have owned a DV 4000 and at least 2 other HP Laptops. I had, in addition to the Operating CD, an application and DRIVER recovery cd. I remember reformatting my hard drive and my Wireless did not work until I installed the application and DRIVER recovery cd. Run that CD and you should be OK. Please keep me posted.
