There are two important icons missing in my system tray on one of my XP machines.

One is the volume controller and the other one is the safely remove hardware icon. Those are the only two I'm aware of. The others aren't real important.

If I click on the "customize" box it shows the volume icon as being named "Incredible deals from Incredimail" under "past ". The remove hardware icon is nowhere to be found.

I can still insert a jumpdrive and the computer will recognize it, I just can't stop it before removing it.

I also had to create a desktop icon for the volume controller and click on it if the volume needs to be adjusted.

I tried clicking on "reset defaults" but this did nothing.

Any idea what's going on or how to reset these messed up icons?

Also allot of other "past icons" do not match up with their names. Like programs pertaining to AVG.

WOW! Thanks for the link. That was easy.

I thought it was from where my wife's son had infected my computer after visiting certain websites and downloading infected MP3s because that was when I first noticed the missing icons.
