We have a network of 10 PCs running Win98SE with Outlook Express 5.0 and Trend Micro Pc-Cillin anti-virus. All users share one e-mail account with folders created to store e-mail to/from each client. The standard folders such as Inbox, Sent Items etc are shared. The registery has been edited on each PC to have the entry for the message store point to a directory on the server. All works well, except intermittantly on opening Outlook Express the Inbox, Sent Items etc are empty (all the user created folders are present and correct). On looking at the directory on the server there are files called Inbox[1], Sent Items[1] etc, after a while we have Inbox[1], Inbox[2], Inbox[3], Inbox[16], Inbox[4] in date order, with Inbox[3] currently in use and some numbers in the sequence missing. We can recover the data but can not figure out how to stop it. I do not believe it is related to Pc-Cillin as stand alone PCs using it do not have this problem.

No rules are at work, and service packs do not list anything related to this issue
