    Hi,

I have some DVD's which contain datafiles and when I try to read them in my Dell Dimension E521 the discs are read as a single audio file which when click open and play in Windows Media Player but of course nothing is to be heard.

I have tried the discs in my Dell Laptop and I can read and access the data files correctly?

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance,

    Rob.

Look at the Autoplay settings for the drive. Right-click on the drive in My Computer and select properties -> Autoplay tab. It may be the setting for Mixed Files is set to run with Media Player.

Thanks for the reply. It is not an autoplay issue though as if I brwose the disc using Explorer the disc content show as a sinlge file named "Track01 ".

Howver in my laptop I see three folders and data files within these!

    Really odd!

Look for a firmware update for the CD/DVD drive.

OEM manufacturers like HP, Dell, Gateway, etc, have them as "driver updates ".

Without too much trouble, look at the model number on the label of the CD/DVD drive and use that in a websearch to find any updates for the firmware.
