Re: Uh, weird things happening to my computer....

4shared is everything I need to upload for backup and then I am deleting it.

I still have no access to my recycle bin. I don't know what to do about that. Now I have another problem that maybe we can address before we go on? My Internet Explorer icon is gone. I did the search for ie.inf and then clicked the install button. It needs a Windows XP CD and I don't have one. The company I got this computer from didn't send me anything. So I can't reinstall it because it's corrupt. Can you help me on this too? Before we continue?

I'm going to delete everything out of my Unused Desktop folder, I didn't realize there was that much **** in there

Oh.... this part "Suggest you try running TreeSize again. Make sure you have selected the root of the drive. The report I have suggests that only your profile folder was selected " that you wrote, would you please elaborate on this? I didn't how I could select the root of the drive. Let me look again and I'll email it to you.

Please don't get irritated at me, I'm not dumb really, but I feel like it compared to all the people helping me, especially you ;)

Will you help me with Internet Explorer after I figure out how to get to the root of the drive?

I don't know if I told you thanks a million yet, but THANKS A BILLION!!

    Sin

Please read that carefully before you go deleting things. The first folder name suggests that those items have already been uploaded.

    !!ALREADY UPLOADED TO 4SHARED!!

That would be the first to delete. Notice I said "once you get the items uploaded from there" when referring to the Unused Desktop Shortcuts folder? That is because I see a 9.6GB folder in there named ZIPPED 2 TRANSFER, which to me means it has not yet been uploaded.

Now, since I did not get a full report, I've no way to confirm my suspicions, so maybe you can. The two folders I've mentioned, the ones where you have data to be uploaded, or that has already been uploaded, are the files contained in those folders copies of files elsewhere on the computer, or did you actually move the files to those folders. For clarification, those folders contain mostly zip files from what I can see ..... is there still a copy of the original file(s) that is in the zip(s) somewhee else on the drive?

Lets hold off on the IE desktop icon shortcut for the moment, if you can find one on the Start Menu or Start>All Programs. You did look there?

[FONT= "Verdana"]Noah!! I haven't been able to get online for the past 3 -4 days! I've been going nuts!

I couldn't upload my stuff. The reason I put "Already Uploaded" was because I knew that was the folder I needed to zip the subfolders...then after I uploaded them, I would delete them. But, I have another problem, I have ADrive (which requires Java enabled), and I can't do that as messed up as my Internet is. I'm trying hon, I'm really trying.

Another thing....I'm starting to get "blue screens" ....... but not with text on them, just blue.

I'm so ready to cry :( Seems I can't get anywhere because there's always something else going wrong.

Do you know of a program called Extra Drive Creator? If so, can you tell me a little more about it? Also, have you heard of SuperCopier? If so, what is it? People send me programs (NOT from here) and say they work and I never know, plus, I can't look them up.

I swear, I'm getting a lawyer and suing the pants off Gateway (that would look really funny :p)

    C Ya!

What is your free space on the C: drive now?

Open My Computer, right-click on your C: drive and select Properties -> Tools tab and do Error Checking, put a check in the boxes to run the full checks. It will ask to reboot to run the check.

Expect a long wait for the check/test to finish.

Crying, this is a crying-free zone :) Do some websearches for yourself. Look in Help and Support for information. Help us to help yourself.

Sin, it's important that you stop looking for software to make space and focus instead on making space. You DO NOT need software to make space! The ONLY thing you need to make space is DELETE and EMPTY RECYCLE BIN (ATF Cleaner will empty the recycle bin).

    MORE SOFTWARE = LESS SPACE

I still need you to confirm my suspicions that you have at least 2 copies of everything that is zipped for transfer.

    Example

Lets say you have a folder named Songs that contains 50 mp3s you want to upload, so you zip it up and it goes into the upload folder on your desktop.

    Did you;
    1. Move the zip file to the upload folder
    2. Copy the zip file to the upload folder
    3. Zip directly to the upload folder

Now, is the Songs folder still there, or did you delete it?
If you Copied the zip to the upload folder, did you delete the original zip or are there 2 zips now?

This has nothing to do with your hardware, but rather with your way of using it.
