Hi. I did something stupid. yes, I installed WMP9 and Im facign endles problems.
Streaming files wont play till the download completely
    (it will keep buffering. i.e. 1, 50, 100, 1, 50, 100 till the whole file is downloaded.)
Then if I try to pan the time, it will freeze and ask me to send the error report.
So I open Add/Remove but its not listed there.
Go to MS's site and it says to use System Restore. I do, but it always fails.
Comptuer reboots ans says System Restore faile, no chnages have been made.
(ya right, no chnages, it deleted 2 new files that I had downloaded ans saved on desktop)
What a surprise...nothing new but now Im stuck with something useless and I cant uninstall.
Is there other ways arround so I can unisntall?
    Thanks

    Georgi

    Yes

you must unhide wmp in the INF to be able to uninstall it.
    WMPOCM=ocgen.dll,OcEntry,wmpocm.inf,,7[/B]
Notice the two comas where the word HIDE was!
First you must have Show All Files enabled in order to open the INF folder under windows. Now navigate to the file SYSOC.INF & open with notepad. Scroll down til you see above line in bold. Remove the word hide leaving the two comas as shown. Now click file then save. Now in control panels add/remove proggys click on add remove windows components, it's unhid now:D

    WMP-9

I have researched this lately & yer rite, WMP 9b (beta) doesn't seem to put any way outa the install:eek: Did you have a "restore point" prior to the wmp 9b installation?

Thanks for reply. and yes, I made one myself before installing, and WMP9 made one itslef too.
Neither of those two worked. Both say comptur cant be restored - there were no changes made.
I guess Im stuck unless I do clean install of XP again. Notihng works now :(

    wmp 9

I'll do some more "diggin" tonite after my hay balin' is done. Your restore point should take you safely back to before wmp install! Are you sure you have NAMED a restore point? Click Start/ Help and Support then select the line "Undo Changes To computer" to see?:D

Hey! I know about computers! Ive been using them since 8 - for 10 years. lol
I know I did the restore thing right - and it has happened before too.
Also, by now those restore points are gone, XP deicded to remove them to make some space for new ones.

I got only 4GB so windows XP deletes restore points when disk space reaches below 200MB :(

    wmp

Small hard drive, eh:eek: Them 40giggers are cheaper than the operating system now! If ya have nothing to loose, I have found the path to some registry lines you mite want to edit. Open the INF folder again & locate the wmp.inf file & open it. Scroll down to line:
    [AddReg.Uninst]

    HKLM, "%KEY_WIN_CURVER%\App Management\System Programs ", "wmplayer ",, "wmplayer.exe "

Scrolling lower finds paths to all reffs of wmp:) Of course you are on yer own now!!

Yap, Im getting one in very early October, probably 80GB :D
I've been upgrading everything on my computer but harddisk.
    It always remainded last priority.
    (got 1700+@1964+, 512 DDR, Ti4400, etc)

Ill look into those regs and figure out what I can do. If nothing works, I'll be doing clean install on new HD
so waiting 2 weeks will save me lot of wastign time with try&errors in INFs ;)
Thanks for helping me out :)
