    Hi,

I have a problem and hope you guys can help me...I deeply appreciate it. I searched the forum and did not find anything on my specific situation. Everytime I put a disc (I only tried dvd's, so far) in the dvd drive (I have an XPS M140 NOTEBOOK) I receive the BSOD DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
I have windows xp media center with sp3...funny thing is that the dvd drive was running fine with sp1 and sp2, but I started receiving this problem with sp3, so I think it has to deal with this service pack, but I am not sure. Here is
    more information on the BSOD:

    stop: 0x000000D1 0XF7C35036, 0X00000002, 0X00000008, 0XF7C35036

    CDROM.SYS-ADDRESS F7C35036 BASE AT F7C29000, DATESTAMP 480253AD
    CDROM.SYS-ADDRESS F7C35036 BASE AT F7C29000, DATESTAMP 480253AD

Thank you for all your help,
    Dave

Get a new driver for your DVD drive, or reinstall the existing driver.

    Thanks for your quick response,

I already tried doing that, and still I get this message. The driver I installed is the same driver I had, since 2006...there were no new driver updates...but I reinstalled and still nothing.

rana99, you are right...because I have the same problem as you...but right now I think I have found a solution, lets see how long this will last. Arie's suggestion worked, though I tried it before and it didn't but I tried it again but did it slightly different.

rana99 I hope this works for you as well, because I do not know what microsoft would make sp3 and have compatibility problems...not smart at all...Here is the solution that worked because I have tested the drive with 3 different dvds and it has been okay so far...
first download your driver/most current one found for your device...if you got a dell go to dell.com and use your service tag to download the driver. do not install it yet just download it.

second, go to device manager and locate the dvd/cd drive...disable it and uninstall it...reboot your computer...

after reboot, install your new driver and reboot your computer again.

keep your fingers crossed as I did...man what a love/hate relationship we got with our computers...

then try inserting a dvd...mine miraculously worked...hopefully yours will work too...I am thinking that SP3 changed or corrupted the drive files....

    good luck!!!
