I admit I am a beginner and this has me puzzled. I have lost the taskbar at the top of my screen, for my screen name only and can't figure out what happened. I have tried to drag it, reinstall it and even back up with restore. Nothing seems to work. Can anyone help this ole gal?

    Welcome to WindowsBBS :)

Please clarify - the standard Windows Taskbar which normally resides at the bottom of the screen and contains the Quick Launch Bar and the Notification Area by the clock?

Try the Task Bar Repair tool

BTW I have moved your thread to the Windows XP forum, if you are using Vista please let us know.

I suggest that you use the Crtl, Alt and one of the arrows.

I have found my task bar to the left or right by accidentally hitting a "HOT" key, instead of CAD. The hot key was one of the arrows. So if you follow Control, Alt and one of the arrows you should be able to resolve the problem. It worked 4 me.

I might have given you wrong information. I was referring to when the whole screen goes clockwise or anticlockwise. Very sorry. However have had your problem and I think that I sorted it out by right clicking on the task bar and then clicking on one of the popups shown. If you have the book "Windows XP for Idiots" it might help you

    I have an idea

:)Further to my previous comments, I have now reread "The Complete Idiots Guide to Windows XP" and believe that I might have found an answer for you.

Let me first quote MY own comment / note which I had made. Click on Task Bar (right click) then list will appear and then click on "Restore Language Bar ". This should help.

    OR, from the book.......

    1) Point the mouse at an empty section of the task bar.

    2) Hold down the left mouse button and move the pointer towards the edge of the screen where you would rather see the task bar situated. As you approach an edge, the task bar suddenly snaps into place.

    3) When the task bar is on the edge you want then release the mouse button.:)
