I have windows xp pro OS. When I open windows media player and click on a wmp file to play it, it has a error msg saying the sound device is messed up. Error msg reads: 0XC00D11BA. I researched this and was told to open windows media player, click tools, options, devices, and then wait till the list populates. Then click speakers and then properties. Under "audio device to use" change the device to the default device. This did not work at all. My sound device is LEGACY. Under properties it show no programs that it is linked too. It says all my sound devices are working properly. Any help?

    Welcome to WindowsBBS :)

Is the sound problem only with WMP - can you play audio CD's - are Windows sounds working?

If none of these are working the first step is to reinstall the sound drivers.
Don't believe everything Windows says - not necessarily true :)

It will not support any sound. Audio Cd's do not work, even system test sounds will not work. It doest even have a volume control available. So basically I went to drivers and it says everything is functioning as normal, but alas no sound. So how would I go about re-installing the legacy driver. I dont have the driver cd's I work as a tech at an electronics rental store. Thank you so much for the help

If the computewr is an OEM - Gateway, HP, etc post the make and model no. and we will try to find the drivers for you.

If built by yourself or someone else use SIW to determine your motherboard make and model and post that detail.
