A while ago my laptop stopped recognizing my WLAN and I tried lots of things, enabling/disabling, reinstalling the drivers but it doesn't recognize it, but sometimes (very rarely) it recognizes it but from nowhere it just happens. I would appreciate help on this matter.

    Welcome to WindowsBBS;)

Have you tried rebooting your modem and or router?
If not - turn both off for at least five minutes.

I've done that but it's not a modem or router problem
It's the WLAN on my laptop because sometimes it recognizes it and sometimes it doesn't, even if the switch is on the on side the little light stays red and it doesn't turn blue. By the way my laptop is a HP Pavilion dv6000

Have you tried deleting the connection and setting it up again?

    Presumably XP!
If you’re using Windows to connect, right-click the Wireless Network Connection icon in the notification area, then click View Available Wireless Networks. Under Preferred networks, click the wireless network that you want to remove then click Remove.

If you’re using the adapter’s software, it will be along the lines of right-clicking the Signal icon > Open utility > Wireless Networks Tab. Highlight the one not wanted and click Remove.

Set it up by supplying the SSID and the security key.

Presumably this means 'The switch on the side of the laptop'. If so, when the light is on correctly, have a look in Device Manager and Uninstall it and reboot the computer to reinstall it.

Does any unknown devices show in Device Manager, do you have any network adapters appear in device manager at all. Any thing with a yellow exclamation mark?

Check the above again after making sure Show hidden devices is checked in the view menu.
