it "appears" every XP system should apply it.

However, if this is for every XP system then why is it not listed at all when I go to the Windows Update web site?

I am running XP Pro SP3 as a stand alone system, that is, not as a server.

It also comes in through Windows Updates. If you have it set to Automatically download and install, you might have missed it.

I get auto notification but not install. I went to Windows Update over the weekend and again this morning with no joy either time. I have since downloaded it from Windows Download and installed it. I even called MS about this this morning and the rep said she would send along an email with a link I could us to ask my question of the appropriate tech and they would reply within 24 hours. This link is all I received in that email:

So much for asking a Q! All they want you to do is Auto update. Sorry "Bill" not on my PC!

 

Yeah, I have mine set the same way, but I got the yellow shield on the taskbar letting me know it was ready to be installed.It was only later I found out how critical it is supposed to be.
