I am Running Windows XP Pro

I have been using my CD/DVD RW drive for about 7-8 months abd never experienced problems.
Just recently it just wouldn't read any disc displaying the message "Please insert disk in drive ".

    I went into device manager.
There IS an exclamation mark next to my drive.
It states "Windows successfully loaded the device driver for this hardware but cannot find the hardware device. (Code 41) "

So I disconnected the device and reconnected still the same thing.
So thinking that the drive may have malfunctioned i put in the original CD drive that the computer came with back in.

    same problem.

i have tried the troubleshooter but it says that it can't help me with my problem

    please help.

    Tony
