I am using windows xp (sp2 i think)

    The symptoms are:

    1. Windows will randomly shutdown with no error message or other warning.

    2. my firewall and antivirus wil not run (iolo brand) . A week ago the programs also cound not be uninstalled, I did a system restore. I was then able to uninstall and reinstall the firewall and antivirus. The antivirus did not detect anything (the virus definations probably weren't up to date). But now, once again the program will not run.

    3. I tried to turn on windows firewall. it will not run, the error message was about windows firewall/ics service.

    4. Programs are missing. In addition to the iolo antivirus/firewall, I use systemechanics. This program is now missing.

    5. windows is asking to be reactivated.

    6. I was going to do another system restore but all the restore points have dissapeared.

    7. the RSIT.exe will not run. The error is
    autoit error
    line-1:
Error: Incorrect number of parameters in function call.

I am not sure exactly what to do. Please help me out. Thanks.

hello sadperson. Can you still get online to download? If so, find and run Malwarebytes. Very good at finding malware and removing them. Keep in touch.

Hi sadperson, and welcome to WindowsBBS :)

    • Please download OTViewIt by OldTimer and save it to your desktop.
    • Double click OTViewIt.exe to start the tool.
    • Now click Run Scan
    • Please do not run any other programs whilst scanning else it may appear to stall.
    • If the progress bar does appear to stall, please be patient .... the tool is still working and should complete.
    • When the scan completes, it should open 2 logs.
    • OTViewIt.txt will be opened on your desktop, Extras.txt opened minimized to the taskbar.
    • Please post the contents of both logs here.
