Hi, I have "itunes ", "Microsoft Works 2000" and a "Trendmicro" entry in my add/remove programs list. These entries do not have a remove option by them. The programs are removed as far as I know. I just can't seem to get the entries off the list. I'm leary of the freeware programs that supposedly do this because my AVG and Spyware Doctor programs tag them as spyware. Hopefully someone knows a fix for this. Thanks

    Stevo65 - Welcome to WindowsBBS :)

The unwanted entries can be removed by editing the Uninstall section of the Registry - there is a tutorial here which relieves me of the task of typing out the procedure :)

Edit - Christer is ahead of me this morning :D

thanks for the quink responses, but neither of the options worked. I am familiar with regedit and have removed many pesky virus' using it. There was nothing with itunes listed or the other ones. In fact I gained another one, infuzer. I looked at every key under "uninstaller" and checked thier properties, but my 4 nemisis' aren't to be found.

    Hello steveo65:
Some others here have suggested to edit the registry ...that is up to you.. and you do risk problems if you are not familiar with how to do it right.
My suggestion with problems of this kind is to use a program such as Mcafee Quickclean Lite. It is a program I have been very happy with, it is completely not overly burdensome as some programs can be. It will only run what you want... Since I did mention only this one program (some others are advertised on this site, and are good as well), and really, it is not the only program I have used through the years since 1969... but what I am telling you, it can do just what you are talking about.

Another reason I am suggesting this is because such programs as you have mentioned, can put many, sometimes hundreds of entries into the registry, which may take a person like me many hours to clean out....not that it cannot be done. The nice thing with a program which can clean the registry is that it may find other programs which are running processes which create problems as well...so .. you can be killing more than one bird at a time, as the saying goes.
One more thing.. a very small program which is free, and can save tons of time and effort is HijackThis (I have ver. 1.99.1 and was free when I got it. You may still find it somewhere for free). Search and download, Install it according to the directions.(this site has it for free whatthetech.com/hijackthis 1.99.1) version. This small, free program also has been a real help to me on my Windows machines. Run the program with the log turned on to make backups. If you accidentally did something wrong, then you can restore the deleted entry.

    Take care,
    dlundmark

Hi dlundmark. Welcome to Windowsbbs! Just so you know this topic has already been resolved and IMO registry cleaners can severly damage your computer and can even cause you machine to become unbootable if you remove an incorrect entry.
