Good morning folks ..i was wondering if anyone would know how to set up a 2 wire modem from Telstra Bigpond on the above unit> It is using a Linux program.
I have set up the ADSL thru Eth0 however the system does not reconise the modem as i do not know how to load the drivers. As you may be aware the 2wire modems need to be set up first with drivers and user names etc. Any ideas on how to get this working? Would it be fesable to set the modem up on a windows environment and then just use the ASUS?

    Kind regards Frozen1

Here is a Bigpond set-up page,
    http://bigpond.custhelp.com/cgi-bin...qid=5730&p_created=1092354624&display=content
but Bigpond don't seem to support Linux, so you would need to use the modem manufacturer's drivers/software (if they support Linux).

You would then need to translate the instructions into "Linux ".

Bigpond won't supply any support, if you have trouble.

Oh, I just remembered, I brought my work laptop home, plugged it into my modem and it connected immediately.

Try setting up the modem with a Windows computer, reconnect it to the Linux, it should work. The Linux computer should just need to be set for DHCP, which should be the default settings.

    go to /etc/networ/interfaces

put these lines there if not there already:

    # The primary network interface
    allow-hotplug eth0
    iface eth0 inet dhcp
    auto eth0
