    I have a 2 week old Dell Studio 15 that has been getting a JIT debugger screen pretty much every time I reboot or shutdown the laptop. The screen disappears pretty fast so most of the time I can't read it but a few times it has appeared on my desktop after rebooting so I could actually read it.

    The error has to do with Dell Dock which is similiar to RocketDock or ObjectDock and I would really like to use it. I have talked to maybe five Dell Techs and they have pretty much given up and suggested I use the Pay Dell tech service or send the laptop back. I'm not going to pay Dell for tech support when it is their software causing the problem and I really don't want to send it back.

    This is what has been tried by Dell Techs:
    1. Updating to the latest Java
    2. Uninstalling Dell Dock from my computer and installing the latest version from their website.
    3. Installing .Net Framework 2.0 Software Developement Kit (SDK) (86)

    None of the above eliminated the error screen, the only way to get rid of it is to uncheck Dell Dock in msconfig to load and of course this does fix the issue but then I have no Dell Dock. I had another Dell tech suggest uninstalling Dell Dock again, try to delete any traces in the Registry and then reinstall again from their website but I didn't know if this was worth pursuing.

    I did notice when going back to the Microft .Net Framework page it said:

    NOTE: This version of the .NET Framework SDK SDK has been superceded by the Windows SDK for Windows Server 2008 and .NET Framework 3.5. This version of the Windows SDK is available as either a

    * Web Install or
    * DVD ISO image

    The Microsoft .NET Framework Software Development Kit (SDK) v2.0 (x86) includes tools, documentation and samples developers need to write, build, test, and deploy .NET Framework applications.

    You must install the .NET Framework Redistributable Package version 2.0 (x86) prior to installing the .NET Framework 2.0 SDK (x86).

    The Dell tech did not install the .Net Framework Redistributable Package 2.0 so did he know what he was doing? Do I need to uninstall the Software Development Kit SDK he installed and install something else?

    I just have average computer skills but is there anyway to eliminate the JIT debugger screen pertaining to Dell Dock? Is there any reason for the JIT debugger to run at all?

    Open IE > click on the Tools menu > Advanced tab > uncheck the "Disable script debugging" box.

    This won't stop the program from throwing exceptions (type of errors) nut it may get rid of the Just In Time debug screen.

    If no joy, go to start > run > regedit > locate the following keys and values > export them (backup) > then delete them. The exported backups can be restored later if so necessaey. This will for certain get rid of the jit screen.

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\AeDebug\Debugger

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\.NETFramework\DbgManagedDebugger.

    Tony I had already tried disabling the script debugging box but I still get the error screen before I try going into the registry should I uninstall what the Dell tech had me install?

    Since he had me install .Net Framework 2.0 Software Developement Kit (SDK) (86) without first installing .NET Framework Redistributable Package version 2.0 (x86) as per the instructions, should the former be uninstalled?

    You should not need the .NET Framework Dev Kit unless you are devoloping .NET applications. Uninstall it.

    I'm not so sure that the Dock is a .NET application anyway. From what I understand, it's made by the same software company that makes Rocketdock and afaik .NET is not required for that.

    At the top of the JIT debugger screen it says Microsoft.Net Framework but any way I uninstalled what Dell tech installed.

    This is strange I followed your instructions in the Registry but I'm still getting the error screen on reboot, any ideas?
