C/w I am glad to hear that you and Matt have come to a good result.
I would though like Matt suggested go for a later version of Nero than 5. Nero 7 will not automatically activate InCD it will however install it, but during install you have to tick on it for you to be able to see and use it.
I used to use InCD regularly but not any more but the good thing is Win Explorer can still read your old InCD CD's or DVD's all the files on them are still save.
    cheers

    hawk22…

    Thanks for your input.

I checked out the price of Nero 7, and it’s not worth $70, considering the little burning I do. So, as long as v.5 holds up (it’s the Express version) I’ll stick with it.

I tried Imgburn, at your suggestion, and it appears to be a perfectly adequate program for my needs. However, it wouldn’t allow me to burn a copy of my Windows installation disk, for some reason.. I’ll try to find out if I did something wrong, or failed to do something I should have.

I succeeded in burning it with Nero, although all the i386 files were listed. I presume the Cabinet folder was expanded, and I don’t know if the disk is usable because of it. .

I’d just as soon uninstall Nero, if I can get along without it.

Needless to say, your help is much appreciated.

    Cheers.

    Matt…

I tried CDBurnerXP and the first time I burned my Windows XP installation disk, it worked fine.

When I attempted to duplicate it, I didn’t succeed; same kind of problem as with IMGBurn.

If I can figure out what I did right the first time, CDBurnerXP is a keeper.

    Sorry, Hawk22. :( :)

Check your settings again. I use a RW disk for testing.

If it fails you might have to run the resets again like before. Try the filters first.

I think you should be able to keep IMGBurn, it might have some features that CDBurnerXP doesn't. The one I would uninstall is the old version of Nero. If you get a new burner at some stage, check if Nero is bundled with it (a new drive is probably less than half the price of Nero-full version). The new version works fine.

    Hi, Guys…

I reinstalled ImgBurn, and both programs seem to work just fine.

The problem lay with the nut behind the mouse.

I used an uninstall tool that I downloaded from Nero’s site, and it did a better job than my previous effort.

However, it still left 132 entries in the Registry, which is better than the 300+ after my last uninstall.

I think I’ll leave them alone, in the expectation that they’re harmless.

When the time comes for a new drive, I’ll take your advice and check for a bundled Nero.

    Thanks.

    C/w
