AVG located adware during a scan on my computer today. It is listed as an unhealed infection and the software informs me that it cannot heal the infection. Will removing unhealed infections remove it totally from my system?
I am running off windows Vista, using windows defender and AVG Free edition8. Is this a sufficient set-up for protection from malware and adware? I have set my default browser to Firefox to enhance web surfing security.

    Hi Vegimite.

Funny, but that Google search description only pulls a single incidence....yours.

What is the file path of the location?

The file path location is C:\ProgramFiles\MyWebSearch\bar\2.bin\F3SCHMON.EXE
AVG is telling me that forced removal can cause system instability or even crash and it seems that they cannot heal the infection themselves. The scan again picked up this adware today. My computer is running very slow at the moment and am at a loss as to know how to resolve the issue. Any help you can give me will be gratefully received.

Was checking for other incidences of this adware, and I have found 2 other reports, one reported on WASA and the other in PCReview. Both of these were reported today the 11th of October. It seems that it is the latest preditor in the sector and the file path location was virtually identical. My computer is running so badly now that it can even keep up with my typing speed. HELP, Please!

Just uninstall MyWebSearch, you don't need it. Nine times out of ten, it comes bundled with something else.

    Hi,

I've tested myself different antivirus software and here's my choice:
    CA then Avira.

As for malware, I have tested ad-aware, spybot, etc... I found out that Malwarebytes (free) is extremely performant and saved my computers in all occasions.. spybot comes second.

p.s. I am not related to any of those softwares.. I just wanted to share my own personal experience (not just online comparative) on the issue.

    Regards,

    Thanks

just wanted to say thanks TeMerc for your input and taking time to respond. As you advised I deleted the related file and this seems to have worked. AVG is no longer picking the adware up and my computer is back to functionality. Would shout you a drink if I knew your local bar xxx

There is one other thing I would like to test your brain cells with. I have AOL Broadband Silver and am using a wireless modem on a Toshiba Equium laptop. My streaming capabiliies are really poor and can only watch items on U-tube, view movies, etc 6 secs at a time. Obviously this is unaccetable, could you tell me why this would be so and what steps I could take to resolve the problem. Have contacted AOL they have unistalled and guided me thruogh refreshing my package, but despite my efforts streaming is not in real time and I dont know why this would be. My laptop is only 18mths old and cost ove £700 so I am disappointed to say the least.

Thxs for your response Joe, have since downloded Spybot S&D to see how it runs but am going to also try Malwarebytes in the next day or so. Thank-you so much for taking some time out to give me some advice- its much appreciated. Good Karma is sent your way. Happy and safe surfing,

    Kind Regards

    Glad that removal worked.

As for your speed, best I can suggest is to run some tests, here are a few sites, they'll give you a pretty good idea of what's normal and what's not: You should also see what other apps are running on the system which may be dragging down streaming speed. Most peoples machines are laden with all sorts of unnecessary processes and services which they may not require to be running.

Here is an excellent site for that:
    AnswersThatWork
Just go to the appropriate letter, and search for the process/exe, they will give good detailed info regarding it, we use it quite often. If you can't find it there, then use Google

For services you can go to either of the following sites, which will provide loads of info and recommendations on which services may not be required to run:
And to prevent unknown applications from being installed on your machine install WinPatrol 2008 v15.
