I am subscribed to a Newsreader Provider that only allows 4 open newsgroups at a time. If I try to open more, I get annoying reminders to keep signing in. According to the Provider, most newsreaders have the capability to allow only a given number of open newsgroups but I have not found anything in SeaMonkey that allows me to do that. Does anyone know if that can be done with SeaMonkey?
    Thanks.

    Bob,

I don't think SeaMonkey can accomplish this, but to confirm whether or not it can, I copied your question and posted it on news.mozilla.org, mozilla.support.seamonkey Newsgroup. Subject: Need new newsreader?

Perhaps some of the guru's there can help.

    Thanks Ramona.
I knew it was a rather obscure question when I did not receive a response after a week. Thanks for your help.
Would you please let me know if you receive any response from your inquiry? Thanks.
    Bob

It is correct that this is a server problem but I did install a separate newsreader and it does give you the option to specify how many newsgroups are open at one time. I think that if you use the SM Newsgroup program and subscribe to many Newsgroups, >8, the server is led to believe that you have more newsgroups open than it can handle and you are required to continually sign in which is a very big annoyance.
I would suggest that if any SM developers see this post, they should consider including the option of specifying the number of open newsgroups when using the SM newsreader.
Thanks Ramona for looking into this for me :)
