There is no setting that can be altered for this problem. Some web pages are written for IE and they do not choose to or do not know how to code the page for all browsers.

My banking program used to be that way and they finally recoded the page so that Firefox could be used with no problem overlapping of words. They had so many complaints from Firefox users that they could not ignore them any longer.

Send an email to your webmaster on those sites and they may fix it---or not.

You can also add an extension called IETab that will allow you to view the page in IE by clicking on a logo at the bottom on the status bar.

That said, I dont see that particular icon on my toolbar or browser. If I want to shift to IE while on firefox: can I have a visible icon and if so how do I make it visible.

to access IE tab I just right click on the page and select open with IE tab. Then if you want to add the page to automatically use IE tab, go to tools, IE tab options and add the web sight from there. then every time you go to that web sight it will open with IE tab

I believe IE Tab also puts an icon on the status bar at the bottom right of the browser window. When rendering with Firefox there is a firefox symbol. When rendering with IE there is an IE symbol. If you click on this icon, it will toggle between the two.

However, you may get session issues if you flip between rendering engines mid-process. That is, the connection session information for the IE rendering engine is held in a different place to that for Firefox. When you log into a site, your "logged in" state is held in the session information. Therefore, if you are logged in under Firefox and then switch to the IE rendering engine, you may well find yourself logged out. This can be very problematic if you are filling out a multi-page input. So you may need to be a little careful where you toggle between rendering engines.

Tools|IE Tab Options will allow some changes. I have two icons. One in the Status bar which comes by default, by Reggie B said. The other icon is in the top toolbar. I went to View|Toolbars|Customize and dragged and dropped the icon, to the right of the Help button.

    Hi thanks!!
Please keep in mind I know very little about computers but am really trying so please bare with me and I will catch on.
    I have 2 questions,

My firefox has slowed down a "ton" to the point that it is as slow or slower than IE. I did some research before posting to save you guys time and I was told this was very common with firefox once you have had it a while. This person gave--- by my standards great direction for he received a ton of people who could not thank him enough but challenging for me. He had them type stuff in their search box and.... I tried for over an hour. How can I speed up firefox? I dont have many addons or extensions to blame for the problem. All help appreciated. Its getting close to the point its faster to use I.E Thanks all!

Second, I am still having problems finding the IE icon and I did down load the extension for having a IE icon on my firefox. Outside of going under view where exactly does this sit. Any additional help for this computer rookie will be greatly appreciated.
Once again, hang in there with my rudimentary questions.
    Thomas

    1. There may be a slow down if Cache is not emptied. And, stuff like that.]
Go to Tools|Options|Privacy|Private data at the bottom, and play with it.
I have a check mark next to the top four items. There a few other ways, but lets leave at it, for now.
    2. If you mean IETab, and not IE, although the icon looks like IE, and you have installed the IETab add-on, check Tools|Options and you will see a line called IE Options. You may want to make changes there. Otherwise, select: View|Toolbars|Customize and drag and drop the icon wherever there is an available place. Typically, it is in the top toolbar. You will have an icon, also, in the Status (bottom toolbar). The latter will show the rendering engine, and Firefox is default. If you mouseover that icon you will have some choices, and left click on it will change the current rendering engine to IE.

    Hi Thomas,

I'm not doubting for a moment that Westside, ReggieB and sutsujsi, will help you iron out your "ietab" kinks but a picture may help. Did you look overlook the snapshots on the link you may have used to download the IE tab add-on? I'll give the link again so you can give them a closer look:
    https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1419

Since "a picture is worth a thousands words" as the saying goes, these at least may help you to figure out what you should expect or are looking for.

The picture shows the IETab preview next to the address bar. It is another location where it can be placed. I have no recollection how it ended up where I placed it, or if it needed to be placed. I have been using the add-on forever, and the latest program which was supposed to have the preview icon needed my help.

    To Westside,

Your absolutely correct. The icon has to be placed where you want it. Your directions will get him there. I just thought the pictures combined with your directions would help a tad.
