Starting yesterday, every time I go to google and click on a result, it launches a new window with some useless, unrelated site on it. If I copy and paste the URL on google, I can sometimes get to the intended site, but I am also getting a lot of 'cannot display webpage' problems.
I have been looking around for people with similar problems, and every time somebody suggests they download a program, I try it and get a 'cannot display webpage' error. I have tried to get your RSIT.exe program as well as combofix and the combofix rename, but none of the websites work. I thought it was just my computer, but now I think its a part of the malware/virus thing I have since every anti-spyware/anti-malware/anti-anything I try is blocked off.
I did manage to get the latest version of HJT. Among the things I tried was, I found instances of the same processes someone told another fellow who was having the same problem to delete, and deleted them. They were files like "(no name) long string of numbers (no file).

So, anyway, with all that said, here is my HJT logfile:

    Hi spiggy
    Welcome to Windowsbbs

Lets see if you can get this one.

Download SDFix and save it to your Desktop.

Double click SDFix.exe and it will extract the files to %systemdrive%
(Drive that contains the Windows Directory, typically C:\SDFix)

Please then reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following :
    • Restart your computer
    • After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, tap the F8 key continually;
    • Instead of Windows loading as normal, the Advanced Options Menu should appear;
    • Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode, then press Enter.
    • Choose your usual account.
    • Open the extracted SDFix folder and double click RunThis.bat to start the script.
    • Type Y to begin the cleanup process.
    • It will remove any Trojan Services and Registry Entries that it finds then prompt you to press any key to Reboot.
    • Press any Key and it will restart the PC.
    • When the PC restarts the Fixtool will run again and complete the removal process then display Finished, press any key to end the script and load your desktop icons.
    • Once the desktop icons load the SDFix report will open on screen and also save into the SDFix folder as Report.txt
(Report.txt will also be copied to Clipboard ready for posting back on the forum).
    • Finally paste the contents of the Report.txt back on the forum.

    Let me know.

    Thank
    Geri

Nope, can't get that one either. Blocked off just like every other useful program I can find.

What if I downloaded it on another computer, loaded it to a USB key and installed it on this one? Does that program need to be updated once you install it? Because this virus/malware thing is preventing some of my protection software from updating too.

    Hi
That would be the best way to go.

Run it and post it's log.

Don't know why I didn't think of that before. Ran Combofix and it found a big mess of ****.

    Hi
    OK good
    Now please run MBAM.

Download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware (MBAM) from here or here and save the file to your desktop.

Double click mbam-setup.exe to install the application.
    • Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
    • If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
    • Once the program has loaded, select 'Perform Quick Scan', then click Scan.
    • The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient.
    • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
    • Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
    • When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart. (See Note below)
    • The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
    • Post the entire report in your next reply.

Note: If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts. Click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process. If asked to restart the computer, please do so immediately.

    Now this one.

    • Download RSIT by random/random and save it to your desktop.
    • Double click RSIT.exe to start the tool.
    • At the disclaimer, please use the drop down box to select 3 months for the file/folder search, then click Continue.
    • If prompted by your firewall to allow RSIT to access the internet, please allow it. It will be updating yourr version of HijackThis.
    • When the scan completes it will open a log named log.txt maximized, and a log named info.txt minimized.
    • Please post the contents of log.txt here in your next reply.

Please post the MBAM log and the log.txt from RSIT.

    Thanks
    Geri
