First off I would like to say hello to all here at the BBS it has been a long while since I have been here and it is good to see you still up and running ( I had no doubts)....

I recently swapped over to XP PRO 64 , I did a full format downloaded all available drivers, updated bios and went to town. Recently my comp which is a intel duel core X6800 on a EVGA MB 680i with 2 WD raptors 10,000 RPM HD's has decided that once it get to the windows screen to go black for about 5 to 10 minutes then take even more time loading windows. I am still running SP2 as well

It seems to load fine with no errors but it is amazingly slow and I don't understand why. I googled possible problems, causes and fixes. I have disconnected my external HD , went into msconfig and disabled all that was not needed except my AV program and still to no avail more of the same. I have not ventured into running services yet as I am still new to some of the services 64bit has to offer.

Any help suggestions would be greatly appreciated as I want my speedy comp back!!! I have run all virus scans and they are currently up to date and find nothing on my comp at all.

    Thanks in advance,

    FD

Device Manager->IDE/SATA Controllers-> See which mode the drives are running in. Should be Ultra DMA and Not PIO mode.
