When installing XP the installer becomes the Administrator by default. Unlike Windows 2000, the login screen does not show Administrator as an option. How can we login as Administrator in XP? I know I can "Run as" from inside but I am curious. Anyone knows?

If the only accounts on the machine are administrator and guest, then the administrator account will show and you will have to put in the password. Otherwise if other accounts exist then it will hide administrator.

To use administrator you will have to hit ctrl alt del and manually type in administrator and password.

My rule of thumb for my pc's and those on my network is to give the user name administrative rights to the local machine instead, then you really never have to log in using the user name administrator. Not only that but for security purposes I would rename administrator to something else and give it a nice strong password.

    Hopefully that helps.

When you are on the default XP logon screen by holding down Ctrl/Alt and then pressing DEL twice you should see the old style login screen where you can change the login name to Administrator.....
