 Was informed by setup, needed a new version of Iomega Zip Software - got it. Now informed by Iomega instructions that I have to unplug zip drive. Not that i'm afraid of opening the hood, been there done that, but, am I wrong in thinking if I go to system under control panel and remove the drivers for drive and remove iomega in add/remove programs (all I have in there is "iomega tools for windows 95 ") the action would serve the same purpose for XP not to see the drivers/drive. Also, should I remove the current program and install the new IOwareW32 before trying to put dear old XP back in. Thanks people

I don't have a zip drive so take this for what it may be worth. I think you'll need to actually unplug that drive to prevent XP from detecting it and either installing bum drivers or erroring out and leaving it hangin' in Device Mgr.

I would take the instructions from Iomaga literally and physically unplug it. They will likely want you to install the new software prior to plugging it back in.

    Good luck.

Uninstall all Iomega software and drivers. If you can't uninstall any drivers, right-click and disable them.
If the above doesn't work, follow Zephyr's advice and unplug it (you will probably only need to remove its white power connector).
I am using a Zip 100 pp successfully, but had to install it after XP was installed.

I think that IOmega's tech support is rigth in unplug an "External Paralel Port" Zip. An internal IDE, ATAPI or SCSI one shuold be recognized without problems, as it was back in Win2k, WinNT 4... (Well, NT4 prior to Service Pack #3 recognized it just as a "Removable IDE ", but even that worked O.K.

I think that if yours is internall, go ahead and no fear, but if upgrading and replacing your O.S. in the very same partition, no reformatting, then I'll install latest IOware BloatWare prior to upgrade anyway...
