Media center and media player cannot read video files

    My PC was working fine until 3 days ago my media player just stopped playing most of my video files including AVI. When trying to play it on media center it does absolutly nothing. When i try to play it on media player it open up the video but only sound comes out....

    Anybody know what to do

    Did you make any changes or install any software that could have affected it? Have you tried a system restore to a known date that it worked?

    i just formated and it still continues. I downloaded the codecs of the net and it works now........very weird
