My brother has purchased a secondhand WXP computer and is presented with three accounts to login to when he boots the computer. He obviously wants to get rid of these accounts and get into windows without having to log into any account, since he is now the sole user. How may he get rid of these accounts and any requirement to login? For example, I just turn my computer on and I'm straight into windows without any logging in. Thank you for your assistance. :)

In Control Panel> User Accounts he can delete accounts. It would be wise of him to create his own administrator privileged account before deleting the others. If it's XP Home he may have to change the users to "limited" accounts before he can delete them. All data and and some programs associated with the original accounts will be lost, so he needs to plan ahead. For his account he can choose to not use the welcome screen and not set a password, that should get him right in when he boots the computer.

Pretty much as Johanna said, as long as you are the only user on your computer and you don't have a password on your user account then Windows will log you in automatically.

Thanks, Johanna and Evan. I'll call up to him this evening and sort him out. I'll also suggest that he joins WindowsBBS and start learning for himself! :D

    I'm much obliged.
