I've just encountered a quite annoying issue where any link I click on in T'bird after the 1st one that opens Fox, it tells me "Fox is already open, and not responding, and I'll have to close it, or restart my PC." What's up with that?:mad:

Since I am using Firefox portable, and the update is not available, I am not going to install 3.0.3. I checked the website, and noticed that the Release Notes did not keep the What's new about Firefox long enough for me to read. It sound that there is something wrong, even without installing it.

    Westside,

Tanx for the quick reply, but I decided to just try and uninstall it, clean all registry ref's to it, but keep the folders in Docs.... Now it works fine.

    Tanx Again,

According to the release notes, the only reason V3.0.3 exists as it does is as a vehicle to distribute a fix that was in V3.0.1 and was inadvertantly regressed from V3.0.2.

    AKAJohnDoe,

I was mistaken when I stated that the problem was fixed by re-installing it. So, what are we serfs to do? I mean, F'fox in it's current form is absolutely useless! And when I go try to place a thread on their forum it's like filling out an itemized corp tax form of items that if they were SOO smart they should have an automated way to get the answers they need.

Understand, I'm not yelling at you, but clearly to the avg consumer it looks awfully silly and absurd to release a NEW product that can't even do a basic function that it's been able to do for several versions.

    @gplea

I am running 3.0.3 and I have an email with several links in it. I can open each link in a new tab with no probs.

Do you have another email with multiple links? Could be bad links in the one email?

I just got 3.0.3 portable, and it gives me no tab problem. However, I use tabs, only, if I want to have multiple sites open at the same time. I found out, long ago that multiple tabs can be detrimental to the performance of the program. I start with one tab, and now I have two.

    BMoore1129,

Unfortunately, it happens on EVERY e-mail that I have a link on.

The only other time the "Firefox is already running" was caused by a bad profile.

You might try making another profile and see if that helps....

Thanks for the tip. That has definite plausibility.

    gplea ...

FF 3.0.2 updated itself to 3.0.3 on my system Saturday morning, and I've had NO problems with 3.0.3. I have no difficulty opening multiple tabs, whether they be from email links or webpage links.

The only time I get the "Firefox is already running" message is if I try to re-open it immediately after closing it, but that's because I use the Bookmark Backup extension, which backs up not only my bookmarks, but most elements of my profile, as well, each time I close FF, and it takes several seconds to copy them to my backup folder.

In my experience, most FF problems are caused by errors in the profile (as Bill suggested), and reinstalling the program seldom helps.

Have you tried running FF in Safe Mode? Give it a try ... if you're able to open multiple tabs in Safe Mode the problem is probably caused by an extension. Then it's just a matter of process of elimination to determine which one is the culprit.
