I have just installed the 2nd HDD but cannot see it from explorer. Disk Management picks it up . BIOS picks it up as secondary master .

I badly need the data so I dont want to format either.

Tried all jumber settings to no avail but need to simply use explorer

    Can anyone help.

Disk Management - did it get assigned a drive letter? What is it's status?

When you move a dynamic disk from one computer to another this dynamic disk is flagged in Disk Manager as a foreign disk. In order to access this disk you must import it first.

    • Go to Start > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Computer Management > Disk Management
    • Right click on the Foreign Disk & select Import Foreign Disk

As hawk22 mentioned, only available in XP-Pro.

To make the disk accessible in a WinXP Home machine you will need to convert it to a basic disk. However this process will destroy the data on the disk.

Importing a disk will not cause any data loss. Converting to basic disk will.
