no screensaver

I am using a new computer (one month old) from Dell, and I have never been able to get any screensaver to work. I have tried various screensavers included with XP Pro as well as Google's Picassa screensaver using pictures on my hard drive. I have it set to come on after one minute, but it never comes on. Any suggestions on what to try?

 

Why that delay? I want my screen saver to come up as late as possible. So, I select 59 min. You realize that the screen saver will not come up if you do anything with the computer. Moving the mouse is enough to make it go away.
If you really mean to have the screen saver come up after some inactivity, make sure that you don't do anything. Give it a bit more time.

 

I have it set at one minute just to try to get it to come on. It hasn't come on at all in over a month, no matter what I've done to it. If it were working, I would set it to come on at 30 minutes, just like I always used to do.

 

have you checked the troubleshooting guide contained in the user manual? it may have some suggestions in there!

I haven't found anyplace to "troubleshoot ". I have read everything in the help section and everything I can find on the internet about "xp pro screensaver problem ", but I haven't found anything that helps yet. I want to be able to use it with a password, but I can't get it to work at all, much less with a password. Yes, I've tried with the password checked also.

One other thought I've had is that I have a new version of McAfee antivirus. I wonder if it is causing some type of interference.
