What do you mean by best ?

If money is no consideration then specs would be different from some budget computer.

First you need to decide whether you want a laptop or a desktop. You can buy either with a version of Vista installed, but if you plan on doing it yourself, you may want to look at the comparison page to see which features would suit you better. For example, how big of a hard drive will you need to store your data? You need to make sure your computer will connect to the Internet the way you want it to- for example, if you are on dial up, you need a plug on the back for the telephone cord.

You could surf to some of the bigger computer dealers web sites and get an idea of your options. You can buy one "out of the box" and ready to go, or one that you specify each feature "Build your own ". Good luck, and let us know if we can answer any specific questions.

The one recommendation I can make make IF purchase was made in USA, is wait until Thanksgiving through Christmas. Generally we will see bigger discounts / price leaders industry wide during holiday period. It's only 8 weeks away. I'm not sure how much programing / type you do. If large database reads/writes are required, you will want to keep HDD's larger and faster. If Google INR ~ US Dollar conversion is correct, your $325 to $435 budget will be a little tight for Vista enjoyable experience / performance. ... which why I suggest waiting until holiday period.

    Dennis,

Here out in India we normally don't have discount sales on PCs.

As per Sumit, his budget is INR 20,000. That's approx. US$ 425.
