I have a laptop and a wireless mouse, no blue tooth. My mouse is a Logitech laser. My computer is giving me an error message, pointing device driver not connecting. Can someone help me with this?
    Thank you,
    Dee

Does the mouse have a new battery and have you pressed the "sync" type buttons on the mouse/reveiver?

Thanks Steve for replying, I don't know where the sync button is. I do have a new battery. I'm now using a different mouse with the same issue. I don't remember how I fixed it the last time but I know I went under systems in control panel.

If the mouse is cordless then it and the receiver will have a SYNC or CONNECT type button on the bottom.

I pressed everything on the bottom of the mouse that resembled a button. No luck.
    Thanks for your help,
    Dee

Check that the driver is loaded. Check Control Panel > Mouse. Hardware tab & see if it says Device Status: The device is working properly.

I need to clarify that I have nothing to my computer since I have asked for help. I did the trouble shoot when I initially found the problem.

One more question-> Does your mouse and or touchpad actually work? Or is the mouse not working cause of the error issue?

Both the mouse and the touchpad work. The issue I have. i can't disable the touchpad. Having the touch active causes me to have a lot of problems when I'm typing. Right now I have a piece of cardboard taped over it.The cardboard tends to get in my way.
    Thanks for your help,
    Dee

That sounds like really really important information...In that your goal is Only to disable the touchpad:confused:

Does the software for the touchpad show up in Add/Remove Programs.

And mentioning the make and model number of the lappy might help.

Is there anyting else important you can think of that will be helpfull.

The snyaptics pointing device driver is present is the add/remove . This is important for so many other reasons as is it is the settings for the pointer and control pad. I use it a lot. After some research I found that I corrected it last time with a uninstall and reinstall, that didn't work this time.
    Thanks for your help Steve.
