    Hi,

the issue I have seen is that when I have my computer hooked up to my tv, files played in windows media player only play audio. Using VLC I can get the files to show but only after selecting OpenGL or Windows...(forgot the exact term)

When I do not have my tv hooked up or the dual monitor feature disabled, the same files play audio AND video fine in Windows media, quicktime, etc.

    Any reasons this is occurring?

    2.2Ghz core 2 duo
    Asus P5B
    2Gb Ram
    256Mb Geforce video card

    Thanks in advance!

Don't quote me, but I believe many apps will only perform well on the "primary" monitor. You should be able to switch the monitor roles around.

    Unfortunately this didn't work.

Kinda makes sense when you think about it because I have both my monitor and tv on, so if it was the primary monitor issue, then the files would of played on my monitor right? Unless I missed something.

Anyways, any other ideas?? I've tried reinstalling video drivers before with no success as well.

Would codecs actually make a diff if it works when the 2nd monitor isn't connected?

Also, the 2nd monitor is setup by just 'extending my windows desktop'

    Thanks again

This normally happens if you have the secondary monitor being fed from a different graphics adapter. i.e if your using on-board graphics AND a graphics card (these are seperate, running seperate drivers) it can cause problems and only run on the primary monitor.

The best way around this - always use a dual monitor graphics card and dont mix n' match different cards.

    Thanks for the suggestion!

I believe though that I only have the graphics card and not any onboard feature.

Everything is set to the nvidia card when I look at the settings. Is there somewhere else to check?
