Used and abused body parts are stretched to the limits after hours of trying to track down a support contact number for:
    http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/geocities/abuse/abuse-03.html

Anyone have any personal experience with a site being posted on the net that discloses all personal data which included some that they had no legal right to do? This includes addresses, social security numbers, phone numbers, legal suites, past divorces/marriages, some medical history...<the list could get quite lengthy as this person obviously did their snooping homework in quite a thorough and harmful manner. It not only included my friends information but his family members as well.

I have sent off an email to their (Geocities) "report abuse" address asking for specific "how-to's ", contacts and procedures to find and track down the original poster of the site, so the person can be hung by their toes and skinned alive....one square inch at a time.

I'm just not sure how long it will take geocities to respond to my email and (for obvious reasons) my friend does not want this site left online a second longer than neccessary.

As I stated in the first paragraph of my post, I was never able to really track down what I felt was going to be a useful timely link to inquire and start the "site disclosure procedure ". The link provided by geocities seemed to send me into a twilight zone link loop. I now find myself posting here in hopes that some member can point me in a better dirrection or give me some idea on how much bigger my pounding headache is about to get....:)

    Thank you Whiskeyman.

I had used another Yahoo email form previously but have now used the form your link gave me, also. Maybe between the two I will receive a response soon.

I don't know what Yahoo!'s reputation is in dealing with abuse. I would seriously give thought to obtaining a lawyer to go after the site's owner.

Ann, is the offending info still on the Internet? The problem with it ever being posted in the first place is that Google and other sites cache old versions. Do you know the identity of the person who posted the info inappropriately? If you do, I would go after them, not Yahoo. Good luck, and please let us know how you get this resolved.

    To Johanna and Whiskeyman,

Yes, the information on the "Free Homepage" of Geociities is still up. I don't want to post the url for obvious reasons and "no ", we don't know who posted it....yet. Geocities keeps that information private, per policy, and will only investigate and disclose such information if the legal criteria is met to do so. I think the information released to the public, on the homepage, will more than meet those legal guidelines. What this person has done is criminal and prosecutable. I know for a fact my friend will seek all legal courses of action, both Federally and Civilly to obtain some form of satisfaction and restitution. Hopefully, this fool was not clever enough to hide any info needed to track him down to his door step.

I will keep updating this post as things progress. Poor Jack (name of friend). He has truly made an enemy somewhere along the line and that enemy is out for blood. The sheer amount of information and the broad nature of such must have taken a while to collect.

So your friend doesn't know who did this to him? I hope if I had such a vindictive enemy I would at least knew who it was!

Maybe a call from your friend's police department would speed Yahoo up? He should put all his cards and things on alert status, and get one of those credit monitoring services, as well as file a police report. If they can identify and catch the criminal, perhaps he could pursue a civil case for his damages.

Are there any other people on this site being victimized this way? How did your friend come to be aware of the site in the first place? Can you make a pdf of the page or at least screencaps for evidence? Wow, no wonder your friend is upset.

I have a friend with the FBI who specializes in surviellence - bugging, taping, video & etc. (lots of activity in Louisana) and I think he'd tell you that once this is reported to the proper authorities and assigned, the culprit will be caught.

    ;)
