I thought I answered this already. My apologies if not. In any case the answer is no, zip, zero, nada. No beeps, just whirring fans.

Nonsense, why would I want to hide anything? I didn't mention the SCSI card because it was taken out way back at the beginning (I also didn't mention the NIC for the same reason). The reason SCSI was mentioned at all is because the drive hangs over the corner of mainboard where the memory is. So does a Bigfoot HD and CDROM which I didn't mention either. The whole mess is a pain in the butt to remove which is why I was reluctant to remove all that mess again. I thought the memory did not matter until after the BIOS attempted to check it so I figured it was above suspicion.

To recap, since the way the thread evolved makes it confusing, here is the order as best I can remember (6 is where I started this thread):

    1) A host of cable swapping and replugging (internal and external).
    2) Replaced mainboard.
    3) Replaced CPU.
    4) Replaced Video card.
    5) Replaced PSU.
    6) Removal of all cards except video and no drives connected (i.e. replacement mainboard, replacement CPU/Fan, replacement video card, verified mouse, verified keyboard, verified monitor).
    7) Repeat 6 with each of the 3 original suspect components.
    8) Removal of 3 memory cards and tried each one, one at a time.

    No BIOS at any point.

As for capacitor failures, it seems strange that would happen on 2 different mainboards. But that brings me back to the only theory I can come up with, see post #16. The PSU perhaps was/is the culprit (although voltages checked out with a VOHM but doesn't mean much since it isn't under load) and zapped the same component on the mainboards or CPUs. Those are the 2 things I have no practical way of verifying. Actually I can't verify the video cards either since my other machine is PCIe not AGP.

Lest I forget, thanks again for everyone's input. One would think that with all this brain power we could will this thing into working. :)

Thanks, but I don't have any need for USB on this machine at this time. The 2 in the back will be sufficient if the occasion ever arises. I think what you are referring to is for connecting USB ports that are on the front of the case (this case doesn't have any).

    No Problems Rockster,
I am getting more confused as his thread continues, but I hope that GW get's it sorted soon, being unfamiliar with these boards I was surprised that from what I could find on the MSI site was only able to be found after "downloading" the Manuals
    Regards Jac

I think we can continue this as long as we want, but I doubt we get this resolved.

This is one of these cases that you'll need to get the hardware to a tech.

All I need to do is find one that can test this old stuff. No so easy.

This can't be addressed in an online forum. You need a someone testing the hardware.
