I have a PC where everything is built onto the motherboard. I used this PC in my garage for awhile. XP crashed and it really bugs me because I can't use this version of XP anymore after 30 days to reload windows. It's the professional version. So I installed another hard drive and loaded Windows 98 SE. Just in case there might be a way to salvage the operating system in the future.

I have another PC with 128 RAM and a 500 MGz processor and it runs at breakneck speeds with Windows 98 SE. Streaming video is not choppy and it pulls up programs quickly. Seems like XP is a memory/processor hog.

Anyway the PC I loaded Windows 98 SE onto cannot find the drivers for the onboard VGA card, Audio card and ethernet port.

Under "System ", it's calling it an AMD DURON with a 900MGZ processor. I went to AMD's website but couldn't figure out what I have.

I did manage to install a Linksys ethernet card and a Creative Labs audio card and got those working but I'm out of PCI slots for the VGA card. The other type of slot (sorry) doesn't recognize my Rage 128 card for some reason. I got plenty of PCI VGA cards but not enough of the other type.

What would you do in this situation where everything is built onto the motherboard and Windows 98 SE doesn't have the VGA, audio and ethernet port drivers?

    jseabolt,

You need to know the make & model no. of your motherboard. Open your computer case & try to locate the model no. of motherboard. Then search for drivers of that motherboard on the net.

Download and install a free version of Everest. 2.20. This should identify your motherboard without having to open up the case and getting out your magnifying glass.

    ;)
