can not update Win XP Home SP2

    I did a repair about a month ago using a retail XP Home SP2 disc. I followed the instructions at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/822798 but get a message that the edb file is in use by another program.

    I also tried http://support.microsoft.com/kb/943144 suggesting Register the Wups2.dll file in Windows
    Download and install the Windows Update Agent

    The machine has passed very recent malware testing, also has clean Hijack This log, and has been scanned by AVG (loaded) and Kapersky (online).

    QuickBooks is a MAJOR use of this machine.
