Inherited an old Dell laptop from the in-laws. Latitude/PII-400 Mhz, with 256mb of Ram. It's slow but free. Partioned the drive and am running ubuntu on it. Got connected and printing fine in ubuntu.

In windows xp, I can't get an internet connection, and the printer will not print. I did get a windows xp test page to come up, but it was when I was restarting the computer. After the restart, it never came up.

I know the stuff works, but am unable to get them to work in windows.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks

    Joe

I expect it might be missing drivers or the wrong drivers are installed.

Look up the model at the Dell website and check the driver downloads. The downloads I expect, will be pre-Win XP (eg. Win 98).

Use what Dell call the Service Tag to find out what hardware is installed (mmm...maybe you could find out what drivers Ubuntu is using), but you will probably need to go to the manufacturer of the hardware to find Win XP drivers.

Get the motherboard chipset drivers first (I expect it would be an Intel chipset).
