I edit/create videos for a living and when I download video content from the web, quite often only the first frame of the video is displayed but the sound plays for the entire clip. If I close the player and click the video link a second time, or even just click the link a second time, it plays correctly, every time. But I must wait until the entire video has streamed to my computer before clicking the link again, and then it starts immediately and plays correctly. Can't be a codec issue because it happens over and over on the same video regardlesss of type- MPG, MPEG, AVI, WMV, etc.

Nothing on the MS KBase that I can find that applies - any ideas?

    THanks

I would look at programs that might want to check what is going on. The checking program stops the stream to check, but the video does not restart. After the initial check, it is OK'ed and you can start the stream again.

Before you about to run the steam, try disabling the firewall or antivirus or other security programs.

See if there are FAQs at the site you where you are running the stream.
