I recently updated to FF 3.0.1 from 2.0.0.16. There were no error messages, but I have a weird problem running it.

I can not run from the Vista "RUN" line, the desktop Icon, the toolbar Icon, or the All Programs menu. However, clicking any any URL links in a free form database I have starts FF at that site and also running it directly from the FF# folder using Universal Explorer (a Windows Explorer type utility) works.

Everything works using these alternate methods. Two others weirds: I am having to reenter passwords at ones which had been saved (no big deal), and I am a bit lost as to working the new bookmarking portion (I assume this to be an old age learning problem).

Another note: I had tried to upgrade to vers. 3 awhile back and needed to revert to 2.0.0.xx at that time.

Cal, I don't know if it is a Vista issue, or not, but having no problems with XP, I cannot comment. The same goes for passwords, unless they, and cookies are set to be deleted on exit. Tools|Options|Privacy|Private data part. Settings button.
As for the bookmarks toolbar, I find it very convenient. I have buttons for sites which I used to have as saved tabs, so the browser runs leaner. And, since the bookmark from the other programs are imported, I have placed the entire Personal Toolbar Folder in the bookmarks folder, having all my folders available.
It is the best of all possible worlds.

    Some Changes!?!?

When I checked the Properties of my shortcut to ensure that the "Target" was pointing to the executable for 3.0.1, that was correct. However, I noticed I was not opting to run as Administrator. I changed that, and then I could run from the Icon, the RUN dialog box, and the All Programs drop down.

BUT, now when I click on a link in an email message, I get a request to allow running the link and then, occasionally, a request to confirm I want to run it, before it loads in FF.

This is better but still a "limping along" setup. I'm suspect my Vista is part of the problem but I haven't seen anything to indicate this here or on another BBS I've gone to to find a solution.

One other item which may point someone to an answer is that I can't uninstall two of the "add-ons" that are incompatible w/ FF3 (Google Web Accelerator and Real Player Browser).

I would first try reinstalling Firefox V3, but this time right-click on the installer executable and select run as administrator.

If that does not clear it up, I would probably uninstall Firefox, clear out the profile folders, and then reinstall it clean.
