If the above is true, your conflict is both Vista and your game have chosen the same Keyboard shortcut for TWO different actions. Go to "this game" site(s) and look for how other users got around this conflict.

Ok, i've found a way to disable or rather change the key sequence that activates the language bar and my lag is fixed.
But now, my laptop is shutting down/restarting slowly, on top of that, the chameleon engine for the SPLENDID application isn't working and it keeps on saying "Critical file missing ".
    Any ideas why?

Good job. Google and a little time can general find a solution.

First, lets may sure we are on the same page.
Is this the program your referring to?
If yes, this is a Asus application. It provides "Predefined Settings" which can enhance your video / graphics viewing along with some other enhancements. Look in "ADD / Remove Programs" (or the Vista equivalent) and try to uninstall it. Some users claim their is NOT an "uninstall" provided.
What some users have tried and worked ...

    1) Remove/uninstall drivers for video card (NOT graphic drivers for MOBO). Using your current graphic drivers from Asus CD or current ones you downloaded from their site, reinstall nvidia video drivers and take option to install ASUS Splendid application.
    (or)
    2) Download Spendid Video. Only available for XP, Asus says runs on Vista ....
    XP - 32bit version
XP - 64 version You will need this version at a future date, AFTER you update your computer to Vista64-bit OS.
The above file(s) will need to be unzipped, then run "Setup.exe ". Hopefully this will write over the top of your current install and replace the missing file.
AS always, be sure you have current backups to all of the important information on your computer.

We have covered a lot of ground in this thread. You original posted looking for suggestions for a new laptop. You received a number of suggestions and made a choice you are happy with. Our current discussions are no longer on topic. To allow others to benefit from these new questions, they should NO longer be posted on this thread. If the above solution works reply in this thread to acknowledge. If NOT (and any other new problems) should be posted in a new thread with proper "Subject line" so other posters can help, or possible find solutions to the same problem they are having. In the body of the post, describe the problem you are having, what solutions you have tried and any other pertinent information. This has been an enjoyable thread, we both learned a lot.
    Thanks
    Dennis

Yes that's the utility i was referring to.
First, i uninstalled the nVidia video drivers, and reinstalled them with the downloaded ones, but the problem still persists and i tried uninstalling the SPLENDID driver but i couldn't find it, so i ran the installer and tried to write over it, but the error still popped up.
In the end, i ran the installer, selected remove the program, restarted my computer and then reinstalled the program and its running perfectly fine right now.

Thanks for all the advice i've received through this thread, it really enlightened me.

    Very good job jAsOs.
Don't be a stranger to the site. We get a few gamer questions, but most of us regulars are not gamers, so any help would be most appreciated.
When you upgrade to Vista64-bit, drop us a line and let us know how it went and how much performance gain you felt you achieved.
