Zephyr, forgive me for not previously responding to your suggestion as regards the heat; however, I have an external fan hooked up, which works all the time that I have the system on, and I would thus assume that excess heat is not the problem. Besides, I had been using the present setup since February and I did not start having rebooting until May.

I am now trying to understand how I report this stuff to Microsoft, and once I do, I pray that they will know what the problem is. All I can say at this point is that it is one frustating mess!

    Thanks, orchided

    It happened to me, too!

I finally found a person who has the same problem I have. Every time I connect to the internet via dial-up, my computer restarts within two hours of connection. So I looked in my event viewer and found that orchided and I have an event in common: The last service to start before EVERY reboot was the EAPOL service! (I don't have an Iomega drive, so it would be impossible.) Now, if I could just find a way to disable it. This thread has been very helpful in aiding my dialup-restart woes. Hope my post helps orchided out, too.
