:eek:I am running XP Pro Service Pack 2 with AVG and Zone Alarm. My IE7 has recently decided to crash frequently. I get the message "IE Explorer has Encountered a Problem and must close....... ", also "DrWatson debugger has encountered a problem and must close......" ,also when restarting it sometimes says "The system has recovered from a serious error ". I have deleted my temporary internet files, history, and cookies. I have made sure that my browser has no add-ons. I have uninstalled and reinstalled both AVG as well as Zone Alarm. I have followed all the Microsoft forums advice to no avail. I have not downloaded anything new recently. I need a fix can you please help me?

Soozie - Welcame to the Board :)

    A number of suggestions ....

Uninstall Zone Alarm and run with the Windows firewall temporarily and test.

If no change roll back to IE6 and test, if OK .....

Reinstall ZoneAlarm and test, if OK ....

    Reinstall IE7

Look in Event Viewer (Start > Run > eventvwr.msc > OK under System and Application for error messages flagged red which coincide with the problem and post detail here (double click on an Event to open and on the icon below the up/down arrows to copy to clipboard and paste here.

"Internet Explorer has stopped working ". As above.

I'm using IEPro 2.2. I Uninstalled IEPro, advanced reset on IE7, and the problem went away, for a while. I reinstalled IEPro2.2 and now it has come back - but now only when I download, say, an installer program. At the end of the download - IE7 crashes just on completion, and immediately restarts. The downloaded installer program, by the way, has downloaded correctly - however, you cannot, of course select 'run' before starting the download, only 'save' because you lose track of it through the crash before it can run.

This is a very new problem for me. Previously,IE7Pro ran impeccably. I've just had my computer back from repair (new keyboard - and new secondary hard drive, after original failed). No evidence of any viruses. I have no plugins or addons that I didn't have before the trouble started.

    Running Vista SP1 Business.
