    Hi all,
I'm having a problem with windows xp pro automatic updates. It constantly wants to keep updating the microsoft.net framework ver1.1 sp1 KB928366.
When updating manually using the express tab, updating window shows it needs to be install and when looking at the updating history it shows its been updated!
When shutting down computer, it does the update again.
In control panel-add remove programs it shows as ms.net framework 1.1, ms.net framework 1.1 hotfix (KB928366) and ms.net framework 2.0.

    Any help would be appreicated
    Dave

Hi David. Welcome to Windowsbbs! :) Since that update is causing you problems you can hide it so that windows update doesn't offer it to you again. Go into Windows Update and click the custom option. When its finished scanning for updates find the .net framework security update. Click the plus sign next to the update and select the checkbox that says dont show me this update again.

Also in addition, click Start< My Computer. Navigate to the following directory C:/Windows/Softwaredistribution/Download. Delete all of the contents of the download folder but do not delete the download folder itself.

Let me know if that update is still wanting to be installed after performing the above steps. :)

    Evan Omo,
After doing what you suggested the update no longer will update, so it work, but when going into windows update using the custom option, it will advice to show the update.
It would seem to me that this fix is ok, but the problem is really hidden and must be some problem in the windows xp os. Thank you and this is a great forum!
