I am a beginner, and I somehow deleted my windows media player, trying to download and it keeps telling me my windows is not genuine. I have had updates to the computer over the last year, and I need to find to Product key in order to download the media player. I have been trying for 2 days to locate the product code, the one on the tower is no longer valid since I updated to windows 2003 last year. ANy suggestions thanks oldyellar

The product key comes normally with the OS in form of a sticker.

Did you updated this machine yourself or someone else did it for you ?

I don't think Windows 2003 requires validation so there is something strange about this. Try to download Belarc Advisor (google to locate this freeware), run it to find out what you have on your system. It will completely identify every important aspect of your soft and hardware. It also may be that the version of media player was not for Win 2003 but for xp or vista. Google media player and look for a version for win2003.

I'm closing this thread. I'm afraid that if you don't have a COA there isn't a lot that can be done short of buying a new one. The COA is usually a small sticker attached to the PC (if OEM) or supplied with the documentation that came with the disks (if boxed product).
