    Hi,
I use Citrix MetaFrame Presentation Client on my computer to remotely access my work resources. I have just been billed quite a lot for download usage (I use a Telstra Wireless Internet), and I am thinking it might be the MetaFrame Client.

    Any thoughts?

I believe that with Citrix you are not using huge amounts of bandwidth at any one time. However, if you have it connected for long periods then the bandwidth usage could quickly build up as the system is continually passing small amounts of information back and forth. I guess the key thing is how often and for how long you connect.

Also how much download usage are you being billed for. Are we talking about many gigs or hundreds of k?

The MetaFrame Desktop may be connected for a period of 2 hours to a day, on most days. We're talking about about 100 gigs over 3 months.

    Thanks.

Hmmm. 0.75Gb a day-ish. That's more than I'd expect from a single Citrix connection opened for a couple of hours.

I'm afraid I can't be sure, but if that was my network I'd be looking for another source for the traffic.

I'd suggest you install Wireshark and monitor the traffic for a while. That will give you a more authoritative answer.
